A lot of our customers ask about getting their “house washed”. And there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing the look on their faces when they see how all the grime and dirt has been lifted and their home looks like new.
But did you know that in some cases a soft wash is determined to be a better choice for washing the house and customers who know the difference, request a soft wash over a pressure wash. And here’s why.
What is a Pressure Wash?
Firstly Pressure washing is a very effective home solution to cleaning different surfaces of the home. Pressure washers use cold water. However, the pressure is high enough to be dangerous. Amateurs often learn the hard way about the power of a pressure washer.
Water is being pushed out at an incredibly high rate which if used inappropriately or without experience, can cause serious damage or even accidents.
You also need to have some idea as to how far you can stand to get the best results without damaging anything. Not to mention, what chemicals to use and how much to get the best results, and again, without wasting copious amounts.
Pressure washing is meant for pathways, decks, stone pathways, patio furniture, and so forth. Anything that is hard but has deep grooves where dirt can sit, the sort of surface that lends itself to pressure washing.
What is a Soft Wash?
Now, you may have never have heard of a soft wash or never thought it had anything to do with pressure cleaning. However the same machinery that is used to pressure clean is used to soft wash with the difference being that a lower PSI (Pounds Per Square Inch) is used to modify or lessen the amount of pressure and water that gets used per area.
Soft washing is done using less than 500 PSI for rinsing or cleaning application. A wider tip is used to widen the spray which then drops the pressure.
Soft washing methods are preferred in a variety of situations over pressure washing.
Soft washing is recommended for soft surfaces, such as:
- Residential and Commercial property washing
- Metal, Tile and Terracotta Roof Systems
- Canvas Awning and Shade sails
- Timber weatherboard and older fragile paint systems.
- Modern architectural mouldings and facades
- Mould and algae treatments.
When you’re considering cleaning the outside surfaces of your home, always ask what choice is better. With a proper inspection, we will always recommend the best approach and application to give the best result.
