Gutters play a huge roll in having a well maintained home. Gutters are designed so that rainwater flows in such way that your roof, the walls of your home and everything else is protected from damage.
It can be devastating.
Here’s the thing, if you let your gutters go, the outcome can be devastating on your home and very costly. The short term cost of regularly cleaning them mitigates the long term damage.

It’s bad enough that gutters full of muck, leaves and sticks can cause internal leaks but worse still they can become nice homes for pests you don’t want. Like mice and even bee nests. And that’s just something no one wants. It’s so paramount to stay on top of potential problems like these because once again, getting all that removed, is going to cost you more than fixing a leak. Your wallet will feel it.
How often should I clean my gutters?
Here’s a rule of thumb.
If you live in area or suburb where there are a lot of trees, especially on your property…then twice a year minimum is necessary.
And the best time of the year is in Autumn and specifically when the leaves are just about all fallen. And the other time is in Spring. And with dry Australian conditions, you don’t want leaves sitting in your gutter especially if you’re near bush land. It’s a recipe for fires to start and or spread. And we’ve seen enough of that happening. Read all about the ways you can prepare your home from the NSW RURAL FIRE SERVICE here.
Of course if you have leaves that constantly fall, all year round, then even four times a year is in order. If heavy rains come, then you don’t want to see the leaks and damage because you neglected your gutters.
