How much does Window Cleaning cost in Sydney?

If you’ve never hired someone to clean your windows, this might be a question you’ve asked yourself. How much does it really cost? It’s a great question because window cleaning isn’t as straightforward as you might expect. And in a city like Sydney, where life isn’t exactly cheap, it’s a great question to ask.

There’s window cleaners (say with a bucket and a squeegee they bought from Bunnings) and then there’s Sydney window cleaners that come with equipment that might include a long Water Fed Pole ( see more about that below), and specialised squeegees that leave no streaks and are more industrial in  design. Some do basic ground floor cleaning only while other window cleaners get up to 6 levels without having to use a ladder. Not to mention those who also have experience to drive knuckle booms for even higher buildings but are not necessarily abseiling.

I digress…

The average cost and the average window.

So the best way to understand Sydney Window Cleaning prices to vaguely say that an average window can cost anywhere from $15 internal and external with no fly screens. This should include frame wiping. But from what we’ve seen, an average window is different in each household. The size can range from 60cm x 60cm say to up to 100cm x 100cm. Now if you include fly screens, you can safely add say about $2.00 per fly screen to wash. That’s it you say? No. There’s more. Here is what a professional window cleaner needs to factor in when quoting and what you need to consider as well.

1. Are there any hard to reach windows?
2. Is the house single or double storey?
3. Are there sliding doors as well? An average sliding door can cost around $10-20.
4. How dirty are they? If they haven’t been cleaned forever, then the job will take longer.
5. How good is he/she at delivering outstanding results? We’ve had customers tell us that the last person they had left streaks and or scratch their glass (I mean how?) A good window cleaner knows their worth.
6. Are there louvers? These take a lot longer to clean and you cannot use a squeegee to clean them, it’s all done by hand.
7. Are there bars in front of the windows? This will also prevent a squeegee being used so time taken to clean windows with bars need to be considered.

Two storey or more?

Now if you have say a two storey house in Sydney with windows on the side of the house that you cannot reach from the outside, a professional window cleaner will have what’s called a Water Fed System with a long pole to reach those windows. This means they can get to what you can’t and there’s value in that too. The system (in brief) feeds though pure water so no streaks are left behind. It’s a fabulous system which means no one needs to get up on crazy high ladders and moving from one window to the next is done with ease.

 

So as you can see it’s not as simple as how many windows are there? A good window cleaner will come and assess unless it’s a stock standard house (what is that anyway) with straightforward average windows.
